Entry Thirty-four

Okay, I get asked this question a lot, so I might as well answer it. A lot of people want to know what rules apply to my job when it concerns animals. Do I carry animal souls to heaven as well? Where was I when the dinosaurs died? What does an animal’s soul look like? Do they even have souls? I get all of these questions and more. Today I’ll tell you what you need to know about my job concerning animals.

The first thing you need to know is that animals do not have souls. They just don’t. I know that this sounds strange to hear, because animals seem like they should. They think, feel, move, and communicate like humans do, so why don’t they have souls? Think about it from a spiritual point of view: God created animals as companions for mankind. He made them for Adam and Eve to name and live with. They weren’t created to be equal to man, but to be subservient to them. What makes men greater than other animals? They have souls…they were given immortal souls by God, who blessed them above the rest of His creations.
You see, an animal’s action are based on instinct of survival. Animals do not fall in love with their own kind for the sake of love, but for mating and reproducing. I’m not saying that animals don’t love, because they can certainly do that…but I mean that it is not the same thing that humans experience. Animals act on instinct and survival. A good example is when you look at the wolf. Wolfs live in packs and they hunt together to feed their pack. They play together, learn, grow up, and they hunt all together. But this is all just their way to survive…it’s how they have evolved and learned to get by. A wolf will give birth to her young and protect them. She will guard them and care for them through their childhood and will teach them how to hunt and act on their own. However, what happens when that child is grown up? The mother will expel the child from her home and send them out to fend for themselves. In fact, a mother wolf would kill her own adult child or spouse if it came near her new liter of cubs. It’s all about instinct and survival. Animals can form bonds with one another, but these are always different than the bonds that humans create and share. Besides, it’s not the same thing as having a soul.

So if animals don’t have a soul, then what becomes of them when they die? Well do you know what zombies are? Of course you do. A zombie is an empty vessel that wanders around aimlessly, acting on feeding instinct alone without a soul to guide it. Animals are much like that. They aren’t flesh eating monsters, but they don’t have any real function other than to obey their animal urges. They act on instinct and will follow that drive. They do not make long term goals like a human does, but rather focus on where their next meal will come from and how they will reproduce. It’s the mindset of an animal. When an animal dies, there is nothing for me to pick up…they’re vessel just ceases to function. I do not concern myself with the death of animals. If I did, then every house fly you swat would bring me there to get it. It’s rather unnecessary.
I only arrive when a soul is needed to be transported, and I have never been called to carry away animal souls. Here’s the truth of the matter: You’re vessel, along with all other animal vessels, will eventually deteriorate and fall apart. I do not control when your vessel stops functioning. My only job is to be there when it stops working so that I can remove your soul from it…otherwise your soul would be trapped in a lifeless shell. I think that this is where people get me confused and think of me as evil. You often connect my job with the ultimate end of a vessel. That, however, isn’t my job. I don’t decide when a vessel stops functioning and inevitably ceases to work…that’s the decision of God. My job and my purpose is only to carry away the souls from this mortal world and on to the next one.

Alright, now about the dinosaurs. I was not around when they were. Remember that I was only put on this Earth when man fell from God. Dinosaurs were long gone by the time I got here. But again, they were animals without souls, merely acting on their primal instincts of survival. I wasn’t needed anyway. What killed them? God. I’m sure you can come up with some other elaborate way of explaining it, but all fingers point back to Him. After all, mass extinctions don’t just happen by chance…something has to be pulling the strings there. All things happen for a reason after all, but that’s all I have to say on them. It’s not my business to focus on the past. I won’t pretend like they don’t interest me though…I sometimes speculate on what God’s ultimate plans were in creating them, and I do have my own theories about the reasons for the dinosaurs existence in the first place, but as I said…it’s not really my business.

Forgive the brevity of this entry. I am quite busy and couldn’t find the time to write very much. I had a break and wanted to answer a question that has been asked so frequently of me. I do hope that this cleared up some questions or concerns that you might have had. Regardless, I do need to get back to work now. I shall write again when I have time. Feel free to ask questions and inquiries. I am becoming a conversationalist it seems. How amusing.

Sincerely,

A.D
Entry 34

This is a short entry, and I apologize for that...but frankly I really didn't have much to say about this topic. Several people have asked me about this and I decided it was time to address it. People always ask me about animal deaths and what does Death do about animals when they die? Well, I had to think about that for a long time and decide how best to answer that...so here it is.
Death's opinion about animal deaths is actually the one that I've had for as long as I can remember. I know that I'm going to get some controversy for this (considering that anyone even reads it) but I hope that you guys enjoy it all the same. Feel free to ask your questions and voice your opinions. I'm always looking for more material to put in the diary entries.

Actually, Death, Ecclesiastes 3:19-21 disagrees. And Revelation 6 mentions horses in heaven. While animals and humans are different in the aspect of creation, they DO have souls. The fact that you only tend to humans, however, proves that our worth is greater than theirs.
